Slow Cooker Applesauce Cake

Slow cooker applesauce cake.Delicious dessert with butter glaze cooked in slow cooker.
Makes 12 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (125 g) unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup (60 g) light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg,beaten
  • 3/4 cup (180 g) applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (125 g) whole-wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup (125 g) quick-cooking oats
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • Buttery Glaze (see recipe below)


Cooking Method:

  1. In a large mixing bowl,combine butter and brown sugar.
  2. Mix until well blended.
  3. Stir in beaten egg,applesauce and vanilla.
  4. Mix in remaining combined ingredients,except Buttery Glaze.Stir well until well blended.
  5. Transfer butter to greased and floured 6-cup fluted cake pan.
  6. Place cake pan on rack in 6-quart (6 L) slow cooker.
  7. Cover slow cooker and cook on on high-heat setting for 2 1/2-3 hours or until tooth pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove baked applesauce cake from slow cooker and cool on wire rack 10 minutes.

Buttery Glaze:

Makes 1/2 cup
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter extract
  • milk

Cooking Method:

  1. In a mixing bowl,combine all ingredients(add enough milk to make a glaze consistency).
  2. Mix well.
  3. Pout buttery glaze over baked applesauce cake and enjoy!
